Become a The Smallest Things trustee
Help shape a brighter future for families after neonatal care
Has prematurity touched your family? Are you a parent or carer of a baby born prematurely or someone closely connected to that experience?
The Smallest Things exists because the neonatal journey doesn’t end when families leave hospital. The weeks and months that follow can be isolating and overwhelming, and many families need ongoing support long after NICU.
We’re now recruiting new trustees to join the Board of The Smallest Things and help guide the charity’s next chapter.
About The Smallest Things
Founded in 2014, The Smallest Things supports premature babies and their families beyond NICU. We’re here to make sure families are not alone offering connection, understanding, and practical support shaped by lived experience.
As a trustee, you’ll help shape the direction of The Smallest Things, working alongside fellow Board members to ensure the charity is well-governed, financially sustainable and making the greatest possible difference for families.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for people who:
Have lived experience of prematurity (as a parent/carer or close family connection)
Care deeply about improving support for families after neonatal care
Can work collaboratively as part of a Board
Are ready to contribute time, thinking, and care to the charity’s governance
What you’ll do
As a trustee, you will:
Attend and contribute to Board meetings
Help set direction and priorities for the charity
Provide oversight to ensure the charity is well-run and compliant
Support good decision-making, accountability and long-term sustainability
Act as an ambassador for The Smallest Things
You’ll be joining a small, passionate team of trustees connected by lived experience and a shared commitment to improving support for premature babies and their families.
